Chemical Compound of Grass That can Make Us Fell Relaxed

You know, the fresh grass that we cut leave a chemical compound that when inhaled will make us feel relaxed and happy? That is why, the smell of grass and plants that smell when we're walking in the park or the mountains will make us feel comfortable.

This was revealed by researchers from the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. Chemical compounds contained in the scent of grass but can ease the tension also acts to prevent decline in mental ability at the time of old age.

The scientists explained, the smell of grass is released to work directly on the brain. Especially, parts of the brain called the amygdala and hippocampus associated with emotion and memory.

"Both these areas are responsible for defense response and the endocrine system, which controls the release of stress hormones such as corticosteroids," said Dr Nick Lavidis, as quoted by Science Alert.

Stress, continued Lavidis, categorized into two. The first stress occurs when you going to do something or when you know what to do my best to get the desired results. This type of acute stress, according to Lavidis, can be said that both forms of stress. Was the second stress is chronic stress that can trigger increased blood pressure, forgetfulness and weakens the immune system.

"Chronic Stress is proven to damage the hippocampus by reducing the number of connections between cells that communicate, leading to memory loss," explained Lavidis. And, one way to fix, according to Lavidis, is by inhaling the chemicals from fresh grass or leafy trees.

Bagimana if we live in an area with limited lawn? Lavidis and several other scientists have developed a perfume that smelled similar to the freshly cut grass. Perfume SerenaScent named NeuroAroma produced by these Laboratories is the result of a combination of 3 chemicals are released when the green leaves cut. In experiments conducted on animals, Lavidis light, the smell is effective to repair the damage to the hippocampus. Perfume has just begun production and is scheduled to be marketed at a price of about 4 euros
